“Spring animation” issue

description

Currently it is not possible to have a nice jumping animation. See attached. The issue is between 0 and 4 Keyframes (transitioning). Feets go below the ground.
I know it’s not a trivial one…

I can't really think of a good solution to this, short of adding an inverse kinematics system. (It would be completely amazing if somebody wants to work on that.)

The way I solve this, is to go in and create extra keyframes in between and fix the foot position. If you look closely at the animation of the "Demina Guy" in the sample, you'll see that his foot wobbles a bit as it moves back. During playback, it's not something you notice much.

In a jump animation, you're not going to want the crouch down before springing to last long, because players expect the character to leave the floor as soon as they press the button.

I'm going to leave the issue open for a little while, so if anyone has any better solutions, I'm eager to hear them, so please add a comment.
